  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking sheet.
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Combine the butter, water, and cocoa in a saucepan over medium heat until melted and hot.
  4. Pour the hot mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
  5. Beat in the eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla until well combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
