A comforting and nostalgic dish of juicy beef patties smothered in a rich mushroom sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard

Instructions

  1. Mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Shape into patties.
  2. Brown the patties in heated oil over medium heat until golden on both sides.
  3. Sauté the sliced mushrooms in the same skillet until softened.
  4. Create the sauce base by adding flour to the mushrooms and gradually stirring in beef broth.
  5. Add ketchup and mustard to the sauce, then return the browned patties back to the skillet.
  6. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the patties are cooked through and the sauce thickens.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For reheating, warm in a skillet with some broth to revive the sauce.
