A quick and delicious Healthy Teriyaki Chicken recipe that elevates your weeknight dinner with low-sodium soy sauce, honey, and fresh garlic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)
  • 1 tablespoon water (optional for thickening)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Green onions, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger to create the teriyaki sauce.
  2. Place the chicken breasts into the sauce, ensuring they’re fully coated, and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and carefully add the marinated chicken. Cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until the chicken is cooked through and nicely browned.
  4. If desired, mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl and add it to the pan. Stir until the sauce thickens to your preferred consistency.
  5. Slice the cooked chicken into strips and drizzle with any remaining teriyaki sauce from the pan.
  6. Sprinkle the sliced chicken with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

For quicker flavor absorption, consider cutting the chicken into bite-sized pieces before marinating. You can substitute rice vinegar with apple cider vinegar.
