Succulent pulled pork slow-cooked in a flavorful barbecue sauce, perfect for sandwiches or tacos.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Buns for serving

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, combine the onion, garlic, barbecue sauce, chicken broth, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed and aromatic.
  2. Place the pork shoulder into the slow cooker, coating it generously with the sauce mixture. Make sure the meat is well covered for maximum flavor development.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
  4. Once cooked, carefully remove the pork from the cooker. Using two forks, shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker. Stir well to combine with the remaining sauce.
  6. Serve on buns with extra barbecue sauce if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, sear the pork shoulder beforehand. Adjust barbecue sauce to taste, and let pork rest after shredding for enhanced flavor.
